Create Global Variables

Last Updated: Version R2510

A Global variable is useful because it can be applied to any batch type within RICOH IA.

Global variables can be used when defining Business Rules for a Batch Type. For example, you might create a variable for an exception group email that is used to across multiple batch types. This enables the Designer to change the email in one location instead of having to make changes to multiple batch types.

  1. From the bottom of the left menu, click Settings.

  2. From the left menu, select Global Variables.

  3. Click Create New Variable.

  4. Enter a unique variable name.

  5. Select the Type: Text, Integer, Decimal, Currency, Boolean, Date time, Date, Time, List (Text, Integer, Decimal, Currency, Boolean, Date time, Date, Time).

  6. Enter or select the corresponding value.

If you selected List Text, you must click the gear symbol to enter the list of values. Once added, the list items appear in the Value field.

  7. Click Create New Variable.

Once saved, the variable is listed in the Global Variables screen. You can filter this list based on the following columns: Name, Type, Created by, Created date, Last modified by and Last Modified date. Use the Edit option to make changes to a variable as needed. Any changes are reflected in the Last Modified by and Last Modified date columns.
